Principal's Message

Hello, PCS friends and family!

I am so excited to begin the 2025-2026 school year together. Our goal at Phillip C. Showell is to assist each of our students on their journey to achieving their dreams. We promise to provide a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for all of our students.

There are so many things to be excited about at PCS this year! We have our largest kindergarten enrollment in over 7 years, resulting in the addition of a third kindergarten class. Starting in October, our entire school will again be participating in One School, One Book. Everyone in our school- students, custodians, and office staff will be reading the same book during our Morning Meetings. The goal is to foster a love of reading for all of our PCS family! We are also excited to bring extra programs like The Circle Boys Group, Girls on the Run, Meaningful Economics, and Let Me Run back to Phillip Showell. These before/after-school programs are great opportunities for our students to get plugged in to all PCS has to offer and build relationships outside their classroom walls.

The success of our students could not truly be met without the support and encouragement of all of their parents and guardians. We encourage you to read with your child for 15 minutes per night, talk about the school day during meal times, and spend time going over schoolwork in their folders. We also would love to have family members be involved with the school. There are many ways to become involved, such as helping in your child’s classroom, reading to the class, becoming a mentor, or attending PTO meetings. Please contact the school if you are interested in helping!

Our goal is to stay connected with our families and PCS community. In order to increase this communication, our school has a Facebook page- PCS Elementary School. We will be posting updates and photos throughout the year. We also encourage all of our families to get connected on Class Dojo. Finally, our PTO also has a Facebook page- Phillip C. Showell PTO. Each of these social media resources will help to keep you connected with all that is going on at PCS. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please reach out to us at school. I am truly looking forward to meeting each and every child this year, as well as getting to know your families! Let’s make the 2025-2026 school year amazing!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Christy Kerr

Hello PCS Family,

Welcome to a new school year!

I am happy to be joining PCS as part-time Assistant Principal.  I will be splitting my time between PCS and SDSA.  I look forward to getting to know the staff, students and families at PCS as we work together to ensure student success.

Our goal is to stay connected with families by providing up-to-date information.  Please check for updates and announcements in Class Dojo regularly.  Students will not be truly successful without the support of their parents and guardians.

We will make every effort to help all children become a part of their classroom communities.  We will offer incentives via our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) System.  Each teacher will spend time creating a positive classroom environment that is predictable, equitable and safe for learning, where everyone can thrive.  As needed, students will receive additional supports and we will communicate with you so you can reinforce the expected positive behaviors.

Please feel free to reach out to our school with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Melody Huebner
